Putting on the Ritz Catering at the Fillmore Silver Spring for the Hearts & Homes for Youth HONORS 2015 Fundraiser. The HONORS Fundraiser is an annual event held by the Hearts & Homes for Youth organization. This year, the Gala was held at the Fillmore Silver Spring. The purpose of the event was to raise money and awareness for their organization’s life-changing programs for the youth in Maryland.
The Hearts & Homes for Youth’s mission is to empower young survivors of abuse, neglect, and trauma with support, advocacy, and counseling to prepare them to be independent adults. The HONORS 2015 Fundraiser was a ticketed event dedicated to celebrating special individuals who have selflessly dedicated their lives to the betterment of children, thus assuring brighter futures and the realization of dreams, perhaps otherwise denied.
This year in particular, Hearts & Homes for Youth added some extra magical entertainment to the already exciting event including Acrobatic Performers, Amazing Masquerade Stilt Walking acts, Jugglers, and Brilliant Human Statues.
Putting on the Ritz was honored and proud to be catering at the Fillmore Silver Spring for this outstanding event. Our menu included passed hors d’oeuvres featuring Ahi Tuna Wontons, Pickled Grape Crostini, Petite Crab Cakes and Mini Angus Sliders.
The meal continued with fabulous food stations offering guests a variety of unique menu selections including:
- Grilled Mahi & Avocado Taco Station: A Grilled Mahi Taco served with Cabbage, Pico de Gallo, Fresh Avocado, Southwest Sauce, and a Squirt of Fresh Lime
- Short Ribs Station: Braised Beef Short Ribs Served on a bed of Garlic Mashed Potatoes drizzled with Bourguignonne Sauce, topped with Fried Leeks and served in a Short Martini Glass
- Gourmet Grilled Cheese Station: Assorted Petite-Sized Servings of Cheddar with Apples, Brie with Pears, and Asiago on Flatbread, served with a Demitasse cups of Tomato Basil Cream Soup
The sweet end to this wonderful evening was a delicious dessert station highlighting some of Putting on the Ritz’s most popular selections including our Caramelized Apple Shortcake, Chocolate Pot De Crème and Tangy Lemon Meringue Shooters.
The Tangy Lemon Meringue Shooters were topped with custom made heart & door shaped cookies to represent the Hearts & Homes for Youth’s Icon.
In case the food, décor and entertainment wasn’t exciting enough, a silent auction was held consisting of gift cards, art, sports tickets and memorabilia, travel packages and much more! The amazing members of Hearts & Homes for Youth also included a Mystery Raffle Prize and a Wine Ring Toss to further help raise additional funds. All proceeds from the fundraiser and silent auction went towards the organization’s life-changing programs for the youth in Maryland.
